JAVELINA JUNDRED 2018 | 100 MILES RUN
YEAR: 2018 LENGTH: 5:55 LOCATIONS: Fountain Hills, AZ LANGUAGES: English
Howls of Javelina Jundred 2018 – Each year, a fun-loving tribe settles into the Sonoran Desert of Arizona right before Halloween for the Javelina Jundred. Together, just over a thousand inhabitants to this temporary oasis dress up, run races, dance, and feast. Howls of Javelina captures the revelry of this spirited weekend. The documentary features impressions from several race regulars, scenes from the trail, and costumes from the 16th edition of these festivities.
The Javelina Jundred course features an arid, open landscape with classic southwestern desert motifs —Saguaro cacti, rocky footholds, and drastic temperature shifts. While the balmy sun might sear at a steady 90℉ during the day, nightly temperatures can reach as low as the 30s. The course features an elevation gain of over 7900 feet throughout the race. The weekend features three events: 100 Mile, 100 KM, and the Jackass Night Trail.
The documentary is the latest production of IRun4Ultra, an ultrarunning publication and global leader in running-related media helmed by Linda Sanders.
