Starting and the finishing in Courmayeur, Tor des Géants is the first and only race where the runners are allowed to merge their individual running style into the long distances: No compulsory stages, no cutoff times. The winner is simply the person who completes the race in the shortest time. The runners can make their own decisions on when and how long to stop for rest and refreshment. TDG, as it is known by those familiar with the race, is the first of this kind to cover an entire region.
Course consisting of trails along the foot of the highest Four-Thousanders in the Alps and through the Gran Paradiso Natural Park and the Mont Avic Regional Park, all promising spectacular views. This race is extremely difficult and as a result, many fail to complete the trail. The weather absolutely adds to the difficulty of the race as the competitors can encounter sun, rain, wind, and even snow. This year FRANCO COLLE from Italy finished with a time of 74:03:00, while second place went to Canadian Galen Reynolds with 74:40:36 and thirds going to Italian Peter Kienzl with 77:31:11.

THE TOR DES GEANTS® 2018 The total length of the race is 330 km (205mi) which must be completed in less than 150 hours. This race, in addition to being particularly long, involves many stretches at high altitudes, including above 3000 meters, and the conditions can be very difficult (running at night, in the wind, cold, rain, or snow). Proper training and a real capacity for self sufficiency are indispensable for successfully completing this individual race.
